Frequently asked questions

How do I sign up?

Open Couch Crew, tap the avatar in the top-left, then tap "Sign up free" on the auth screen. Enter an email and pick a password β€” you'll get a confirmation email. Click the link inside, and you're in.

If the email doesn't show up within a couple of minutes, check your spam folder. If it's still not there, email us and we'll resend manually.

I forgot my password β€” how do I reset it?

On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter the email you signed up with. You'll get a password-reset email within a minute or two. The link inside is single-use and expires after an hour.

How do friends work?

Each Couch Crew user picks a unique @handle (set yours under Profile β†’ Account). Search for friends by their handle or display name from the Find Friends button on your profile, send a request, and once they accept you become "Film Crew" β€” you can see each other's Top 10's, watchlist, ratings, and recommendations, and you'll show up in each other's friends feed.

Where does the streaming availability data come from?

From The Movie Database (TMDB). Streaming providers are detected per region β€” make sure your region is set correctly under Profile β†’ Settings β†’ Streaming Region. We refresh provider data regularly, but TMDB sometimes lags by a few days when a title moves between services. If something looks wrong, let us know and we'll investigate.

What does Couch Crew Pro give me?

Couch Crew Pro unlocks unlimited friends and watchlist (free accounts have a small cap), custom themes, CSV export of your full library, iOS calendar sync for movie nights and release dates, advanced watch stats with genre and decade breakdowns, and your annual Year-in-Review recap. There's a 7-day free trial, then it's $32.99 AUD/year. Cancel anytime from your iOS Settings β†’ Apple ID β†’ Subscriptions.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Couch Crew Pro is billed through Apple. To cancel: open the iOS Settings app β†’ tap your name at the top β†’ tap Subscriptions β†’ tap Couch Crew Pro β†’ tap Cancel Subscription. You'll keep your Pro features until the current billing period ends.

You can also manage subscriptions from inside Couch Crew under Profile β†’ Settings β†’ Manage Subscription.

I bought Pro on one device β€” why isn't it active on my other device?

Sign in with the same account on both devices. Pro is tied to your Couch Crew account (via Apple's purchase receipts), so as long as you're signed in, it should follow you across iPhone, iPad, and any future devices. If it's still not unlocking, tap Profile β†’ Settings β†’ Restore Purchases to force a refresh.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile β†’ Settings β†’ Account β†’ Delete Account. We'll permanently delete your profile, watchlist, ratings, reviews, friend connections, and recommendations within 30 days. Some limited information may be retained for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes β€” see our Privacy Policy for details.

If you'd rather just sign out and keep your data, use Profile β†’ Settings β†’ Sign Out instead.

The app is acting up. What should I try first?

The fastest fix for most issues:

  1. Force-quit Couch Crew (swipe up + swipe up on the app card)
  2. Reopen it
  3. If that doesn't work, sign out and sign back in (Profile β†’ Settings β†’ Sign Out)
  4. If still stuck, delete and reinstall β€” your data lives in the cloud and will come back on sign-in

Is Couch Crew available on Android?

Not yet. We're focused on getting iOS right first. If you'd like Android, drop us a line β€” we keep a list of folks waiting and you'll be the first to know when it's ready.
